Wordiness

Wordiness

Prose is architecture, not interior decoration, and the Baroque is over.

~Ernest Hemingway

Circuitous (“circumlocution”) wording is roundabout, indirect and doesn't express your meaning in the simplest, most straightforward and clearest wording.

Clichés and trite phrases can wreck your writing and toss it straight into the amateur pile. Just think of the many jokes made about “It was a dark and stormy night.”

Redundant Words are unnecessary words that duplicate the meaning of other words in a phrase.
